Banking regulation in the times of Covid-19

Dr. Richard Senner

Swiss National Bank

Thursday, November 26, 2020, 14:30

The Chair of the Swiss National Bank has recently reaffirmed the importance of capital and liquidity requirements to Swiss banks, particularly under the uncertainty caused by the Covid 19 crisis. What exactly is at stake, and how current policy measures affect banks and the Swiss economy at large?

Dr. Richard Senner will speak on these issues on 26 November, when he will be a guest lecturer in the M.A. in Political Economy of Money and Development at the Franklin University Switzerland (FUS). Dr. Senner is an Economist in the Financial Stability Team at the Swiss National Bank, where he works on shadow banking, banking regulation and risk analysis for the Swiss banking system.

He will offer an introduction to banking regulation with a focus on Basel capital requirements, and a discussion of present policy measures taken in Switzerland during the Covid-19 crisis, and how these measures affect banks and the real economy.

Dr. Richard Senner is an Economist in the Financial Stability Team at the Swiss National Bank, where he works on shadow banking, banking regulation and risk analysis for the Swiss banking system.
